Interview With the Content Mix: Marketing Tips for Small Businesses

I say this all the time “marketing is like a puzzle” and I like to think it’s my job to help my clients figure out how to put all the pieces together.

I was recently interviewed by Shaheen Samavati over at The Content Mix, a European community of content, marketing and communications professionals, and had the chance to talk about this in more detail. The content Mix host a variety of interviews with content marketers around Europe, and I was very excited to sit down with Shaheen and talk about my experiences over the last decade. Through interviews, articles, events and forums, the Content Mix fosters knowledge sharing that leads to professional growth and success for the members of the community.

In our 30 minute chat, we talked about how overwhelming it can be to try to figure out what to do online to market your business - there are so many channels available and so many options, it can feel like there’s never enough time or budget to get everything done. There’s always the latest social media tool that everyone says you’re ‘supposed to be using’ or the latest technique that promises to be a ‘game-changer’. For small business owners and start-ups (the majority of my client-base) this is extremely overwhelming and confusing.

My advice is always the same: keep things simple!

Yes, you could use a variety of social media channels, and advertising, and PR and have a website and an app and this and that. But frankly, you don’t need to. You need to focus on a few key channels and do them well.

Watch the video below to listen to the full interview where I share some of my tips for redesigning your website, creating content, guest blogging, linkbuilding and so much more.

And if you have any questions, feel free to get in touch - I’m always here to help.
